Vintage Fred Paris “Alize” Eyeglasses Force 10 Frames in 22K Gold-Plated Palladium Designer Eyewear with Original Hard-Sided Case. When it comes to luxury vintage eyewear, Fred is in a league of its own. This rare high-end Fred frame was made in France in the early 1980’s. Fred is a famous French maison known for its exquisite maritime and nautical-inspired jewelry and accessory pieces, the line is named’Force 10′ to reflect the founder’s interest in sailing. The glasses are handmade in gold and silver tones with the iconic twisted cables affixed to the gold rims. Denoting how special these creations are, each frame has its own serial number engraved on the right temple hinge to authenticate the work. It is #517571 on this frame. The designer also marked his unique styles with an F on the exterior hinges, the Fred name on each ear piece and the inside of the left stem. On the right stem is the model name Alize. The Alize style is a modified cat eye design, updating the popular shape for the modern woman who appreciates owning the best of the best, which the luxury lifestyle brand Fred embodies. Size: Medium 5916 135mm. Condition: The frame looks practically new. Lenses that can easily be replaced and converted into sunglasses if desired. There is a faint discoloration of the gold next to the left nose piece, see last photo. The unique satin and velvet case is in. The right side of the case catches upon opening and does not close smoothly. Palladium is often used as a substitute for platinum. It is lighter and less dense, and used to make white gold.
