Beautiful and petite lady’s lorgnette. The spectacles cleverly fold in half at the bridge of the nose and tuck inside the case for safekeeping. There is a tiny cartouch on top for the owner’s initials (it’s blank). It has a ring at the end to wear on a chatelaine. There is some wear to the cobalt blue enamel, but it does not detract from its rarity and display. I have done so in my smoke-free home away from direct sunlight behind glass. The previous owner listed this as containing silver, but I’m not seeing it. It’s a gilt metal of some sort… Could be brass or ormalu. The cartouch looks silver, but I think the gilt has worn off. To open, there’s a tiny pin in the handle that you push. A small lever on the opposite side flips out and then you push out the glasses. I tried to photograph it. I’m trying to downsize.
